Be ready to save lives at any moment and from any location!

In emergencies such as heart attacks, choking episodes, or cardiac arrests, a quick reaction and correct information are necessary. The Automated External Defibrillator (AED), a vital instrument for restoring normal cardiac rhythm, lies at the centre of these situations.

Let's look at the significance of AED training, how to use it correctly, and how it connects to recognizing other potentially lethal situations.

What precisely is an AED?

An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is a portable, life-saving device that uses electricity to shock the heart in the case of cardiac arrest. Its user-friendly design and clear voice and visual instructions enable anybody, regardless of medical background, to use it effectively in an emergency.

Why Is AED Training Important?

Cardiac arrest can occur at any time, therefore every second counts; fast AED use, along with CPR, can double or triple survival chances.

  1. Comprehensive Emergency Preparedness: AED training teaches you to detect the signs of choking or a heart attack, allowing you to respond more quickly and efficiently.

  2. Empowered Action: Believing in your abilities to manage situations enables you to act decisively, perhaps saving lives when it counts the most.

Community Impact: Learning how to use an AED makes the environment safer by ensuring that more people are prepared to cope with crises.

How to Recognise and Address Health-related Emergencies

Asphyxia: Recognise choking signs such as gasping, coughing, and difficulty communicating. Escalation can be avoided by quick action, such as abdominal thrusts.

Symptoms of a Heart Attack: Upper-body discomfort, shortness of breath, and chest pain. Prompt discovery and request for medical care can greatly improve results.

Cardiac arrest, unlike a heart attack, occurs when the heart stops functioning. Understanding this and utilising an AED as soon as possible is essential.

How to use an AED efficiently?

  1. Activate the AED: Turn on the device and follow the visual or auditory instructions.

  2. Put the pads on: Place the adhesive pads on the patient's exposed chest. Proper posture ensures effective shock delivery.

  3. Heart beat Analysis: Allow the AED to assess the heart beat. During this stage, ensure sure the patient is not handled.

  4. Deliver the shock: If the AED advises a shock, press the shock button once everyone is clear.

  5. Continue CPR if necessary: If the AED asks you to do so after providing the shock, continue doing so until assistance comes.
